Residents and staff at Wentworth Court on Village Road were entertained by the All Saints Academy choir who sang festive favourites including Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, Once in Royal David’s City and a mesmerising version of the Carol of the Bells, popularised by the 1990s film, Home Alone.
The students, aged from 11 to 16 spent time after their performance chatting with and getting to know residents.
General Manager, Gez Ossai said: “Our ladies and gents love to engage with the wider community and in particular with young people, reconnecting them with their maternal and paternal natures. Events like these are wonderful for social and psychological wellbeing and it’s lovely to see so many smiling faces across the generations.
“The residents absolutely loved the singing and asked for the choir to come back again soon.”
Wentworth Court has an ongoing relationship with All Saints Academy, providing work, experience and enrichment opportunities for students.
Earlier this term, Mr Ossai visited the school to talk to learners in Years 10, 11 and 12 about the range of careers in social care.
