As a result of our investment in staff education, the whole team have increased their knowledge and understanding of the residents we care for, and we have no less than seven dementia link workers!

Our training programme has led to improvement in individualised care plans and response training has de-escalated challenging behaviour. We have seen measurable results in a decrease in hospital admissions, the number of residents requiring one-to-one care and a reduction in medication as residents’ behaviours are embraced and understood.

Wentworth Court’s Practice Nurse Educator, Drew Emmett-Saunders’ inspiring approach to training and development was recognised earlier this year, when he won the Inspiring Leadership category at the Gloucestershire Care Providers Awards.
